8 Feb 1828 - Surry Co.,NC - Will of Absalom Kerr (Book 4:page 212): "In the name of God Amen this the 8th Feb 1828 In the Year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Eight I Absalom Kerr of the County of Surry and State of North Carolina being in a Sound state of health and mind and memory, Thanks be unto God therefore Calling unto mind the Mortaity of my body knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say Principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be Buried in a decent Christian Burial at the descretion of my Executors Nothing doubting but at the general resurection I shall receive the same again by the almighty Power and touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath Pleased God to bless me with in this life I give and demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. Item first I Lend my loving WIFE SARAH KERR all my Estate both real and personal that it has pleased God to bless me with during her natural life or widowhood. Item Second I give and bequeath to my SON ARCHIBALD KERR the Uperend of my Lester Tract of land adjoining Absalom Mathew's line Running a conditional line to my back Line supposed to be one- hundred acres. Item third I give and bequeath to my SON ABSALOM KERR the Lower End of the said Lester tract of land Adjoining Amos Maacke corner white Oak Running a conditional line to my lower North and South line. Item fourth I give and bequeath unto my SON GILLIAM KERR the tract of Land Whereon I now live to them their Heirs and assigns forever. Item fifth I have given to my DAUGHTER REBECCA HALL one mare and one feather Bed one cow and one Walnut Chest one yew one Loom three pewter Plates to Her and her heirs forever. Item sixth ARRARAT SHIPWASH I have given one feather and furniture and twenty dollars in cash one walnut chest three pewter Basons To her and her heirs forever. Item seventh I nominate and appoint my Loving wife SARRAH KERR and my son GILLIAM KERR My sole Executors of this my Last will and testement and hereby Revoking and desinuling all wills made Heretofore made by me this the 8th of February 1828 and signed and sealed in presence of us. "To the worshipful court the petition of Absalom Kerr Reuben Kerr Perry Clany [Chinn] & Elizabeth his wife formerly Elizabeth Kerr Polly Poindexter formerly Polly Kerr Sally Kerr & John Kerr Alexander Kerr (marked out) and Mahala and William Kerr infant children of Alexander Kerr who petition by Reuben Kerr their Guardian for the such humbly sheweth that by the death of Of Alexander Kerr Sr. lately this county who died seized of a Tract of Land they have been Tenants in common of said Land which adjoins Mallary Land containing by estimation about Two Hundred acres for the precise amount they by lease to refer to the decd.  They would represent to the court that it is necessary a deve? con shoutt? be made among them of the land and they pray that commissioners & a survey or may be appointed by the court to devide said Land into Eight shares among them and that they make return thereof to the court.        _____?Propet"
