Kearney Family
First Generation
John Kearney is the earliest we know in this family. Can anyone take us further back? He married Johanna Gertraut Hauser (1792-1859) in 1818 in Bethania, NC. The Moravian diaries note that he "does not belong to us". He doesn't appear in the 1850 census, so probably died before then.

William Henry Tobias Kearney (1858-1859)
Cemetery records show Emma's and Sarah's birthdates as two months apart in 1854, clearly impossible if they are really sisters. In the 1860 Forsyth County census, Sarah is 8 and Emma P. is 6. In 1870 Emma is 16, and in 1880 she is 23. However, she may be duplicated in 1880; there is another Emma Kearny (Kerney) age 25, a servant in the home of Romulus Cox in Bethania. We suspect that Sarah is the older and that she was actually born a couple of years earlier.

The card file at the Moravian Archives in Salem said they had three children. Can anyone identify the other two for us?
