Elizabeth included references to Virgil D. White, Genealogical Abstracts of Revolutionary War Pension Files (Waynesboro, TN: Nat. Hist. Pub. Co. 1990), for some files not personally abstracted.

Elizabeth's ancestors Abel and Lucy (Bennett) Edwards migrated from Stokes Co., NC, to Monroe Co., IN, about 1830 and then to Lucas Co., IA, by 1855, as did a number of Stokes and Surry County families. She believes Abel Edwards (b. 1810) to be a nephew of Joseph Edwards, Revolutionary War veteran. Lucy was the daughter of James Bennett and Mary G. (Polly) Evans, who married in Stokes County in 1814.
