Vogt Family of Philadelphia

John Jacob Vogt was born in Germany about 1841 and entered the United States June 1, 1867 aboard the Deutschland. The ships' passenger's list shows John was a shoemaker. Settling in Philadelphia, PA, John Jacob Vogt operated his own shoemaking business. By 1870 John Jacob married Augusta L. (maiden name unknown), who was also born in Germany about 1849, and resided at 902 Thompson Street in Philadelphia, PA. Before 1880 John Jacob Vogt moved his family to 1034 Oxford Street in the same section of Philadelphia where he remained until sometime after 1900. By 1910 John Jacob Vogt moved again, to 2621 N. 11th Street. In the 1930 Census, Augusta, widow, states she immigrated into this country in 1866 and was married at the age of 20. They are buried in the Greenmount Cemetery in Philadelphia.
