Below are references made to Evan Ellis that are found in Carolina Cradle, Settlement of the Northwest Frontier, 1747-1762, Robert W. Ramsey:

  • "Evan Ellis also migrated from Chester County (East-Town or Haverfor Township)." page 80, Chapter - In the Forks of the Yadkin, 1752-1762.

  • Either of Baptist or Quaker origin were ......Evan Ellis; ..... Stephen Riddle; .....Samuel Shinn. page 130, Chapter - Quaker and Baptists of the Northwest Frontier,

  • A partial listing of "Quakers Appearing (1675-1747) in the Records of the Monthly Meeting at New Garden (Chester County PA)" has: Sarah Ellis, Rowland Ellis, Rebecca Evans, Abigail Shinn, Samuel Shinn and several other Shinns.

  • Rowland Ellis and Thomas Ellis are also mentioned in the Middletown Meeting (Bucks County PA)

  • The will of Evan Ellis was probated 1793, Rowan County, NC and mentions "Cusin: William Ellis."
